• Wide bore glass tube mounted vertically in front of a scale graduated 0 to 60cm
• Zero corresponds to the inside of the closed (top) end of the tube
• Air is confined in the tube by a coloured oil contained in a metal pressure chamber
• Pressure chamber is fitted with a Bourdon type gauge calibrated 0 to 3.5kg cm² (0 to 50 lb/in²) actual pressure

A Optical Bench of plated brass rods mounted parallel in a pair of sturdy, metal legs, engraved scale, 0-100cm, on one rod, graduated in mm. Legs have leveling screws. Five heavy, brass riders included with index mark on one side, and a knob at the bottom to loosen / tighten their grip on the rods for adjusting their positions. Two riders have slow motion screws, providing sideways movement for axial adjustment of accessories. Accessories can also be adjusted for height. All accessories described in optical bench accessories are supplied with the bench.

While doing so light follows a set of laws i.e. for reflection , refraction etc. Aim of this experiment is to show the peculiarities of light when passing through different shapes of glass.
